TELL, TEXAS (Hall County). Tell was a post office established on November 19, 1896, in the home of Will Rothwell in extreme southeastern Hall County, with Rothwell's wife Clemmie as postmistress. Mail was delivered on the Childress-Matador Ranch route, and many cowboys and freighters received their mail there. Mrs. Rothwell also taught school for a time. After the town of Tell was established in Childress County, the post office in Hall County was discontinued, on December 30, 1900, and mail was sent to Childress.
