TONA, TEXAS. Tona was near the Hunt county line in northern Kaufman County. It was established as a shipping point on the Texas-Midland Railroad in the 1890s. Tona had a post office from 1894 through 1925, when mail was routed through Terrell. By 1914 the population of Tona was thirty, and the settlement supported two businesses. In 1925, the last year for which statistics are available, Tona registered a population of forty-five.
