TAILS CREEK. Tails Creek rises just east of the Jacksonville oilfield in western Cherokee County (at 31°58' N, 95°21' W) and runs south for twenty-six miles to its mouth on the Neches River, five miles southwest of Maydelle (at 31°44' N, 95°21' W). The stream is intermittent in its upper reaches. It crosses flat to gently rolling terrain surfaced by clay and sandy loam that supports grasses and mixed hardwoods and pines.
