VALDEZ, JUAN (?-?). Juan Valdez was lieutenant general and alcalde^qv of the presidio and villa of Bexar in 1720 when Father Antonio de San Buenaventura y Olivares^qv presented a petition asking that no mission be granted the Zacatecan missionaries led by Father Antonio Margil de Jesús.^qv Valdez answered that he had orders to establish such a mission and accordingly selected a site for San José y San Miguel de Aguayo Mission.
