VALENZUELO CREEK. Valenzuelo (Velenzuela) Creek rises twenty-eight miles northwest of Callaghan in central Webb County (at 28°10' N, 99°42' W) and runs northeast for ten miles to its mouth on San Roque Creek, seven miles southwest of Catarina in southern Dimmit County (at 28°16' N, 99°40' W). The stream was named by a rancher for Valencia, Spain, his birthplace. The surrounding flat terrain with locally shallow depressions is surfaced by expansive clays that support water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and various grasses.
