VALLEY CREEK (Cooke County). Valley Creek rises in northern Cooke County (at 33°44' N, 97°24' W) six miles north-northwest of Muenster and flows north 8½ miles to its mouth (at 33°49' N, 97°22' W) on the Red River. The creek flows through flat to rolling prairie with locally steep slopes and escarpments. Soils vary from thin stony clay loams to thick clay and sandy loams. The land is generally used for rangeland, though some areas are suitable for cultivation. Vegetation consists of bluestem varieties, wild rye varieties, sideoats grama, goldenrod, Maximilian sunflower, and oak trees.
