WOODBRANCH VILLAGE, TEXAS. Woodbranch Village, also known as Woodbranch, is located off U.S. Highway 59 about thirty-two miles northeast of Houston and seventeen miles southeast of Conroe in southeastern Montgomery County. Developers began a subdivision in the 1960s and named it for the wooded area. Residents incorporated under the name Woodbranch Village in the late 1960s and established their own city government. In 1970 the population was 378. That figure increased to 720 in 1980 and 1,312 in 1990. In 2000 the population was 1,305. Most residents commuted to Houston.
