WYNNEWOOD, TEXAS. Wynnewood, a predominantly black community on the San Jacinto River in western Walker County, developed on a plantation of Erasmus Wynne in 1852. Descendants of slaves brought from Alabama still grew tobacco and cotton in the area in the early 1940s.
