WALNUT CREEK (Grayson County). Walnut Creek rises one-half mile east-northeast of Red Branch in extreme northwestern Grayson County (at 33°49' N, 96°53' W) and runs east for three miles to its mouth on the Big Mineral Arm of Lake Texoma, 1½ miles northeast of Gordonville (at 33°49' N, 96°50' W). It is intermittent in its upper and middle reaches. The stream crosses low rolling to flat terrain surfaced by sandy and clay loams that support mixed hardwood and pine trees. The area historically has served as range and crop land.
