XABE (?-?). Xabe, probably a plains Indian, was reported by his captors, the Indians of Pecos Pueblo (Cicuyes), to be a native of Quivira^qv when they presented him to Francisco Vázquez de Coronado^qv as a guide in the spring of 1541. Xabe confirmed El Turco's^qv report of gold and silver in Quivira, although he stated that there was not as much as El Turco claimed.
