ZION HILL, TEXAS (Guadalupe County). Zion Hill is a tiny rural community located off State Highway 123 about seven miles south of Seguin in south central Guadalupe County. This African-American settlement began sometime after the Civil War,^qv and in 1877 Zion Hill had its own school. The school, however, was not listed among the Guadalupe County school districts in 1905. Highway maps of the 1930s showed a church and cemetery in the area. By the late twentieth century Zion Hill was a dispersed rural community, and the most visible reminders of the early settlement were Zion Hill Baptist Church and the cemetery. In 2000 Zion Hill had a population of thirty.
