ZION HILL, TEXAS (Guadalupe County). Zion Hill is a tiny rural community located off State Highway 123 about seven miles south of Seguin in south central Guadalupe County. This African-American settlement began sometime after the Civil War,qv and in 1877 Zion Hill had its own school. The school, however, was not listed among the Guadalupe County school districts in 1905. Highway maps of the 1930s showed a church and cemetery in the area. By the late twentieth century Zion Hill was a dispersed rural community, and the most visible reminders of the early settlement were Zion Hill Baptist Church and the cemetery. In 2000 Zion Hill had a population of thirty.
