ROBBINS, JOHN W.
ROBBINS, JOHN W. (1852–1910). John W. Robbins, legislator and state official, son of Solomon and Amanda Robbins, was born in Talladega County, Alabama, on November 12, 1852. The family moved to Smith County, Texas, in 1859. In 1877 Robbins married Sara Long of Tyler. He moved to Wilbarger County in 1889 and represented the Wilbarger County district in the House of the Twenty-fourth and Twenty-fifth legislatures. He was elected state treasurer in 1898 and held the office until January 1, 1907. He organized the Stacy, Robbins, and Covert Insurance Agency in Austin in November 1906. Robbins died in Austin on March 15, 1910, and was buried in Oakwood Cemetery.
