HOGEYE, TX (JACK COUNTY)

HOGEYE, TEXAS (Jack County). Hogeye, or Hog Eye Prairie, a stop on the Butterfield Overland Mail route, was sixteen miles east of Jacksboro in Jack County. Joseph B. Earhart managed a stage station and prosperous ranch there. A school and a church were located nearby. Before 1860 a sizable settlement was in the area, but it eventually disappeared.
