SALEM, TX (HAYS COUNTY)

SALEM, TEXAS (Hays County). Salem, nineteen miles northwest of San Marcos in northern Hays County, was a school community on Bear Creek near the Travis county line. When organized as the Cedar Valley district on October 23, 1876, it had just eight students.
