ARROYO DE LOS ANGELES

ARROYO DE LOS ANGELES. Arroyo de los Angeles rises six miles northeast of Oilton in southeastern Webb County (at 27°30' N, 98°53' W) and runs southeast for eleven miles to its mouth on Mesquite Creek, six miles northwest of Hebbronville in northern Jim Hogg County (at 27°24' N, 98°44' W). The stream was named for Las Cabercas de los Angeles, José Cuellar's original Spanish land grant, which included the area where the stream originates. The stream traverses flat to gently rolling terrain with local depressions, surfaced by shallow clay loams that support grasses and scrub brush.
