BIG CREEK (BRAZOS COUNTY)
BIG CREEK (Brazos County). Big Creek rises near Allenfarm in southern Brazos County (at 30°24' N, 96°15' W). Weaving its way eastward for 24½ miles, it travels through the flatlands of the Brazos River valley and empties into the Navasota River at the Brazos-Grimes county line (at 30°23' N, 96°08' W). The stream traverses flat terrain with local shallow depressions, surfaced with clay and sandy loams. The area has been highly cultivated with crops, but where native vegetation remains it consists mainly of post oaks.
