BLANCAS CREEK

BLANCAS CREEK. Blancas Creek, also known as Blanca Creek, begins ten miles southeast of Laredo in southern Webb County (at 27°29' N, 99°18' W) and extends southwest for eighteen miles to its mouth on Mesquite Creek, nine miles northeast of San Ygnacio in northern Zapata County (at 27°16' N, 99°21' W). It crosses both low-rolling and flat terrain with locally shallow depressions, surfaced by clay and sandy loams that support grasses, mesquite, chaparral, and water-tolerant hardwoods.
