BIG CREEK (HOUSTON COUNTY)

BIG CREEK (Houston County). Big Creek, also known as Caney Bayou, rises four miles southwest of Crockett in west central Houston County (at 31°18' N, 95°31' W) and flows southwest for eighteen miles to its mouth on the Trinity River, near the Fort Trinidad oilfield (at 31°04' N, 95°39' W). It crosses flat terrain surfaced by clay and sandy loam that supports water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses.
