CANYON CREEK (CLAY COUNTY)

CANYON CREEK (Clay County). Canyon Creek rises five miles north of Bellevue in eastern Clay County (at 33°45' N, 98°01' W) and runs east for seven miles to its mouth on Belknap Creek, four miles north of Stoneburg in Montague County (at 33°44' N, 97°56' W). The stream runs through rolling to flat terrain surfaced by sandy and clay loams that support post oak, water-tolerant hardwoods, and conifers. For most of its history the Canyon Creek area has been used as range and crop land.
