CLEAR CREEK (MONTAGUE COUNTY)
CLEAR CREEK (Montague County). Clear Creek rises just north of State Highway 59 in east Montague County (at 33°42' N, 97°36' W) and runs southeast forty-seven miles, passing through Cooke County, to its mouth on Lewisville Lake, in northwest Denton County (at 33°16' N, 97°03' W). Clear Creek is one of the major streams of Denton County. It provided an important supply of clean water for early settlers of the Grand Prairie region. Fed by numerous tributaries, it drains the mostly deep, fine, sandy loam of the Blackland Prairie that supports grass and brush.
