COTTONWOOD CREEK (BAYLOR COUNTY)

COTTONWOOD CREEK (Baylor County). Cottonwood Creek rises six miles northeast of Mabelle near U.S. Highway 82/277 in northeast Baylor County (at 33°41' N, 99°04' W) and runs north through remote ranchland for seven miles to its mouth on the Wichita River, near the upper end of a diversion reservoir (at 33°46' N, 99°02' W). The creek crosses rolling hills with clay and sandy soils that support scrub brush, cacti, and grasses.
