FARMERS CREEK

FARMERS CREEK. Farmers Creek rises at State Highway 59 west of St. Jo in northeastern Montague County (at 33°41' N, 97°34' W) and runs for twenty-five miles west and north through Lake Nocona, or Farmers Creek Reservoir, to its mouth on the Red River, southeast of Spanish Fort at the Montague county line (at 33°54' N, 97°35' W). It crosses flat terrain with local shallow depressions surfaced by clay and sandy loam that supports water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses.
