FISH SPRING BRANCH

FISH SPRING BRANCH. Fish Spring Branch rises four miles northeast of Alvarado in east central Johnson County (at 32°25' N, 97°10' W) and runs northeast for 2½ miles to its mouth on Mountain Creek, seven miles northeast of Alvarado (at 32°28' N, 97°09' W). It traverses flat to rolling prairie surfaced by dark, commonly calcareous clays that support mesquite trees, cacti, and grasses. The area has served as crop and range land.
