INDIAN CREEK (COOKE COUNTY)

INDIAN CREEK (Cooke County). Indian Creek rises five miles east of Gainesville in east central Cooke County (at 33°40' N, 97°03' W) and runs southeast ten miles to its mouth on Ray Roberts Lake, two miles southwest of Burns City (at 33°26' N, 96°59' W). The stream is dammed in its middle reaches to form Lake Kiowa. The local terrain is flat to low and rolling and is surfaced by clay and sandy loams that support water-tolerant hardwood trees, conifers, scrub brush, cacti, and various grasses.
