INDIO CREEK
INDIO CREEK. Indio Creek rises four miles southeast of El Indio in south central Maverick County (at 28°29' N, 100°15' W) and runs west, then southwest, for a total of fourteen miles before reaching its mouth on the Rio Grande, nine miles southwest of El Indio (at 28°23' N, 100°20' W). The creek traverses an area of low-rolling hills and prairies with occasional low relief, surfaced by clays that support pecan and other hardwoods interspersed with chaparral, mesquite, and grasses.
