PRAIRIE CREEK (FREESTONE COUNTY)

PRAIRIE CREEK (Freestone County). Prairie Creek rises in eastern Freestone County (at 31°49' N, 96°05' W) two miles south of Young and runs northeast for 5½ miles to its mouth (at 31°52' N, 96°03' W) on Tehuacana Creek, four miles northwest of Fairfield Lake. It traverses flat to rolling prairies with local shallow depressions, surfaced by clay and sandy loams that support hardwoods, pines, conifers, and grasses. The area is used primarily as dry cropland and forest.
