SOLEDAD CREEK

SOLEDAD CREEK. Soledad Creek rises four miles southwest of Freer in northwestern Duval County (at 27°49' N, 98°40' W) and runs north for twelve miles to its mouth on Ygnacio Creek, six miles northwest of Freer (at 27°57' N, 98°41' W). Its name means "solitude" in Spanish. The stream traverses flat terrain with local shallow depressions, surfaced by clay and sandy loams that support water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses.
