STEPPES CREEK
STEPPES CREEK. Steppes Creek (Stepps Creek, Steppe Creek) rises in eastern Brown County (at 31°49' N, 98°51' W) and runs eight miles southwest to its mouth on Pecan Bayou, three miles east of Brownwood (at 31°41' N, 98°55' W). It crosses flat terrain with local shallow depressions surfaced by clay and sandy loam that supports water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses.
