SUGAR CREEK (Upshur County). Sugar Creek rises two miles south of Gilmer in south central Upshur County (at 32°42' N, 94°58' W) and runs northeast for six miles to its mouth on Little Cypress Creek, four miles east of Gilmer (at 32°45' N, 94°52' W). The creek is intermittent in its upper reaches. It traverses flat to low-rolling terrain surfaced by clay and sandy loams that support water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses.
