SOMBRERETILLO CREEK

SOMBRERETILLO CREEK. Somberetillo Creek, also known as Sombrerito Creek, rises thirteen miles north of Laredo in south central Webb County (at 27°47' N, 99°28' W) and runs southwest for sixteen miles to its mouth on the Rio Grande, two miles northwest of Laredo (at 27°37' N, 99°33' W). It crosses low rolling and flat terrain with locally shallow depressions surfaced by clay and sandy loams that support grasses, mesquite, chaparral, and water-tolerant hardwoods.
