SPANISH OAK CREEK
SPANISH OAK CREEK. Spanish Oak Creek, formerly known as Cottonwood Creek, rises one-half mile south of Henderson Branch Road in southwestern Gillespie County (at 30°12' N, 99°11' W) and runs east for three miles to its mouth on White Oak Creek, one-quarter mile south of Henderson Branch Road (at 30°12' N, 99°08' W). Rising in the hills of the eastern Edwards Plateau, Spanish Oak Creek crosses steep slopes and limestone benches surfaced by shallow loamy and clayey soils that support open stands of live oak and Ashe juniper and grasses.
