SANDY CREEK (CHEROKEE COUNTY)

SANDY CREEK (Cherokee County). Sandy Creek rises just north of Rusk in central Cherokee County (at 31°51' N, 95°08' W) and runs northeast for six miles to its mouth on Mud Creek, a mile west of Ponta (at 31°54' N, 95°06' W). The stream is intermittent in its upper reaches. It crosses flat to gently rolling terrain surfaced by clayey and sandy loam that supports grasses and mixed hardwoods and pines.
