TURKEY CREEK (HOPKINS COUNTY)

TURKEY CREEK (Hopkins County). Turkey Creek rises two miles southwest of Long Cemetery in southwestern Hopkins County (at 33°03' N, 95°52' W). The creek, which is intermittent in its upper reaches, runs southeast for ten miles to its mouth on Lake Fork Creek, four miles east of Point in north central Rains County (at 32°56' N, 95°48' W). It crosses flat to rolling terrain surfaced by clay and sandy loam that supports water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses.
