HURRICANE BAYOU. Hurricane Bayou rises two miles northwest of Thompson in east central Houston County (at 31°22' N, 95°21' W) and flows southwest for nineteen miles to its mouth on the Trinity River, a mile southwest of Halls Bluff (at 31°21' N, 95°40' W). It traverses flat terrain, surfaced by clay and sandy loam soils that support water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses.
