FRANKLIN MOUNTAIN

FRANKLIN MOUNTAIN. Franklin Mountain is fifteen miles northeast of Lampasas in eastern Lampasas County (at 31°15' N, 98°03' W). Its summit, at an elevation of 1,402 feet above sea level, rises 250 feet above nearby Bear Branch. The mountain stands in an area of the Grand Prairies region characterized by flat terrain with some local dissections, surfaced by stony shallow clays and loams. Local vegetation includes grasses and open stands of oak, mesquite, and juniper.
