HOOVER KNOBS. The Hoover Knobs, three miles northeast of Pottsville in northwestern Hamilton County (at 33°03' N, 99°23' W), have an elevation of 1,583 feet above sea level. They rise out of variable terrain surfaced by shallow, stony clay loams that support juniper, oak, grasses, chaparral, and cacti.
