MITCHELL MESA

MITCHELL MESA. Mitchell Mesa is two miles east of the Presidio county line and twenty-five miles south of Alpine in west central Brewster County (centered at 30°00' N, 103°44' W). The highest elevation on the mesa is 5,281 feet above sea level, some 900 feet above Walnut Draw, a mile east. The mesa is three miles long and 1½ miles wide. Shallow, stony soils in the area support Mexican buckeye, walnut, persimmon, desert willow, scrub brush, and grasses.
