SOUTH FRANKLIN MOUNTAIN
SOUTH FRANKLIN MOUNTAIN. South Franklin Mountain is southwest of Fort Bliss and a mile north of the McKelligon Canyon City Park Area road in the Franklin Mountains State Park in northwestern El Paso County (at 31°52' N, 106°30' W). At an elevation of 6,800 feet, it rises 2,500 feet above Alabama Street, two miles east. Its shallow, stony soils support scrub brush and grasses. There is a navigation light on the summit.
