STAR MOUNTAIN
STAR MOUNTAIN. Star Mountain is fourteen miles northeast of Fort Davis in eastern Jeff Davis County (at 30°47' N, 103°48' W). It rises to an elevation of 6,344 feet above sea level, some 2,100 feet higher than State Highway 17, two miles to the southeast. Its surface of shallow, stony soils supports Douglas fir, aspen, Arizona cypress, maple, ponderosa pine, and madrone.
