SHORT CANYON

SHORT CANYON. Short Canyon begins three miles north of Casket Mountain and nine miles northwest of Fort Davis in northwestern Jeff Davis County (at 30°41' N, 103°56' W) and runs northeast for thirteen miles to its mouth on Limpia Canyon, twelve miles northeast of Fort Davis (at 30°44' N, 103°47' W). An intermittent stream flows down Short Canyon. The surrounding rugged terrain is surfaced by shallow, stony soils that support Mexican buckeye, walnut, persimmon, desert willow, scrub brush, and sparse grasses.
