SILVER LAKE. Silver Lake, often referred to by its Spanish name Laguna Plata, is a natural lake in the West Nueces River in northeast Kinney County five miles south of the Edwards county line (at 29°33' N, 100°16' W). The lake is a mile in length and 500 feet in width. It is named for the glistening reflection which occurs as sunlight strikes its dry gypsum bedrock.
