ALPINE, TEXAS (Gregg County). Alpine, a rural community formerly on Alpine Road and now in north Longview in northeastern Gregg County, grew up around the Alpine Presbyterian Church, which was established before 1900. In the mid-1960s the community had a church, a store, a cemetery, and a number of houses. In the early 1990s only a church, a cemetery, and a few scattered dwellings remained.
