CORYELL VALLEY, TEXAS. Coryell Valley is on Farm Road 929 six miles northeast of Gatesville in northeastern Coryell County. It has also been known as Coffey, in honor of Smith Coffey, an early settler. The community had a church and a schoolhouse by the early 1870s. The Coryell Valley school had twenty students and one teacher in 1904. Only the cemetery marked the community on county highway maps in 2000.
