CRUZ CALLE, TEXAS. Cruz Calle, also known as Vera Cruz, is on Farm roads 716 and 1329, sixteen miles southeast of Benavides and twenty-five miles south of San Diego in southeastern Duval County. The earliest record of the community is from the Vera Cruz school, which had eighty pupils during the 1906-07 school year. By the late 1940s the community had the school and a few scattered dwellings. By the late 1960s, when the community was first identified as Cruz Calle on maps of the area, the Vera Cruz school had been consolidated into the Premont Independent School District. Cruz Calle was still listed as a community in 1990.
