COLLINS CITY, TEXAS. Collins City was a short-lived post office and flag stop on the International-Great Northern Railroad near Jacksonville in north central Cherokee County. It was named for Col. C. F. Collins, agent for the I&GN in Jacksonville in the 1870s. A local post office operated briefly from February through September 1877, but a town evidently failed to develop, and the mail service was discontinued.
