FRIENDSHIP, TEXAS (Denton County). Friendship was a rural community in southeastern Denton County. The settlement developed around a Methodist church and a one-room schoolhouse in the 1850s and served as a community center for area farmers. It was bypassed by both the railroads and highways that were built in the county in the late 1880s but remained a church and school community until sometime in the 1930s. By the mid-1940s both the church and school were defunct.
