HENRY'S CHAPEL, TEXAS. Henry's Chapel is at the junction of Farm roads 13 and 856, twenty-three miles northeast of Rusk in northeastern Cherokee County. The site is said to have been settled in the 1820s by immigrants from Arkansas, who named it for an early local church. A school was in operation there by 1897, when it had an enrollment of twenty-seven. In the mid-1930s the community had two churches, two stores, and a population of seventy-five. The stores and one of the churches have since closed, and in the early 1990s Henry's Chapel was a dispersed rural community with a church. The reported population in 1990 and again in 2000 was seventy-five.
