HOSHALL, TEXAS. Hoshall was four miles south of Lufkin in central Angelina County. Its site is at the intersection of the oldest and second oldest of three roads leading south from Lufkin to Diboll, west of the old Houston, East and West Texas Railway right-of-way. Around 1900 Hoshall was the site of a logging camp, a commissary, and a boardinghouse. During World War Iqv Luke Wright built a mill that employed several men and produced 15,000 to 25,000 board feet of lumber daily. The camp was closed and the mill dismantled in the early 1920s, when the surrounding timber was exhausted.
