JAKE, TEXAS. Jake was near the Neches River in southern Angelina County. A post office opened there in 1884 but closed in 1886, when the mail was sent to Easom (later Wakefield) in Polk County. At one time there was a combination gin and grist mill in the area, but by the 1930s the site had been abandoned.
