LIVE OAK, TEXAS (Bexar County). Live Oak is near the junction of Interstate Highway 35 and Loop 1604, thirteen miles northeast of downtown San Antonio in northeastern Bexar County. It incorporated in the 1960s and first appeared on the United States census rolls in 1970, when a population of 2,779 was reported. Since that time the community has grown rapidly, and in 1990 Live Oak had 10,023 residents. In 2000 the population dropped to 9,156.
